Family Office Senior Tax Accountant
The Family Office Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for utilizing research skills, applying tax foundational knowledge to understand potential tax issues, gathering client information necessary for filing, participating in tax planning, recognizing and communicating potential risks, preparing tax accrual work papers, and working with tax software applications to complete tax returns.
Primary Responsibilities
- Tax return preparation including multi state preparation
- Prepare individual, fiduciary (complex, grantor, simple and split- interest), gift, partnership and private foundation tax returns
- Preparation of tax projections and related estimated payments
- Analyze client information and offer recommendations for reducing client tax liabilities
- Respond to IRS and state tax notices
- Assist in preparation of our clients’ 1099 NEC & MISC, Household W-2’s, year-end tax information reporting
- Prepare analysis of various investments
- General accounting for client business’ to be used in preparing income tax returns, including preparation of trial balances and related adjusting journal entries
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other relevant field required. Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred
- 4+ years’ experience in tax preparation required
- Completion of CPA Exam, or working toward, highly preferred
Additional Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; ProFx Tax; Quicken/QuickBooks preferred
- Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced environment
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information
