Administration to Enrolled Agent: A Way to Grow
I spent a lot of my career in administrative roles within Finance and Accounting at a large multi-national company, but I wanted a new challenge, so I started looking for a bookkeeping and accounting position. I was soon hired at a small accounting firm, and a few months later the firm merged with Weiss and Company LLP.
It really worked out great because I was able to pursue the required training to obtain Enrolled Agent status with the IRS. Enrolled Agent status is the highest credential awarded by the IRS. It allows me to specialize in tax and fully practice before the IRS – prepare and sign tax returns, respond to IRS notices, and represent clients in audits before the IRS. While juggling a late career change along with my family, becoming an Enrolled Agent was the fastest way for me to grow in my career without needing to go back to college to pursue a degree.
Now, I enjoy what I do! I love to maintain relationships with our clients. I like helping them work through their tax issues. There are so many opportunities to learn and grow at Weiss, and I appreciate the flexibility they offer. It allows me to work part-time and still be able to manage my family responsibilities, spend time with my husband, attend my teenage son’s baseball games, as well as spend time in my garden.
