Camaraderie & Mentorship: The Weiss Way

Shortly before my last year of high school, I was trying to figure out which elective courses I would take for senior year. I’d always enjoyed my math classes, so after talking it over with my parents I decided to take an accounting course. I thoroughly enjoyed the class, so much so that I finished the year with a 115% grade mark. Needless to say, I knew what my college major would be.

I attended Northern Illinois where I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting. During those years, I did two internships with Weiss – one as an undergrad and another during my graduate year. Both internships were positive experiences, and I knew I wanted to work at Weiss full time after graduation.

At Weiss, the partners really want us to be able to find our fit, so there are definitely opportunities to explore different facets of accounting and to try different things, whether it be tax, audit or accounting services to see what we really like – which is something I personally valued. There’s also a level of camaraderie and mentorship here that, in my experience, you don’t find at most jobs. For me, the people and culture are what really set Weiss apart from other firms. The senior associates at Weiss want to see you grow and get better. They take stock in seeing you reach the levels that they believe you’re capable of reaching.
