Cook County Property Tax Mailing Delayed Again

In what is hopefully not becoming an annual tradition, Cook County is once again pushing back the mailing date for the second installment of 2022 property tax bills by 120 days, to November 1, 2023.

The delay is identical to last year, as is the reported cause, a still-unfinished computer system upgrade. Importantly, the original due date of December 1, 2023 remains in effect, giving property owners only 30 days to submit payment in full.

That makes it all the more important to review your tax bill as soon as it becomes available. If you’d rather not wait for mail delivery, you can access your bill online beginning November 1 at www.cookcountytreasurer.com. The site provides a tool that will permit you to look up your bill using either the property address, or your tax PIN number. Alternatively, you can contact the Treasurer’s Office directly at 312-443-5100.

As always, Weiss & Company LLP is ready to provide you with the most current advice on preparing and submitting payments for outstanding property taxes. Should you have any questions, we encourage you to reach out to your tax professional.
