On the Fast Track: A Place to Make a Difference

I’ve always been a runner – I ran cross country at state in high school – and when I went to college, I wanted to find a place where I could not only run, but make a difference. I ended up choosing Augustana College, where I got a degree in accounting and business administration.

I approached my job search with the same idea. After college, I got my Master of Accountancy at Northern Illinois University, and I started looking for a smaller firm where I could make my mark. I found Weiss and knew it was the right fit. I didn’t want to get pigeonholed into one space, and when I started in 2011, I got a broad view of accounting and good exposure to several different areas. Since then, I’ve found I enjoy auditing, and I’ve now been promoted to manager.

I work with a great group of people – that’s why I’ve been here for nine years. We work hard – during tax season, it’s all hands on deck. I still run, but I usually don’t run race during the tax season. The summer is more laid back in the office, and I usually do races in the fall. I’ve run the Chicago Marathon three times and have placed pretty high. It’s great that Weiss has the right work/life balance that allows me to keep up my race schedule.
