Shared Values: Finding the Right Fit
When I was a freshman in high school, I took a career assessment test suggesting that I was a good fit for accounting. It made sense – I’ve always been a math and numbers person. I took a few accounting courses in high school and decided to major in it in college. So from a young age, I knew this was something I wanted to do.
I’ve worked in several accounting roles, especially early in my career. I took a temporary bookkeeping job at a private company right out of college, and shortly thereafter worked with an agricultural auditing firm, neither of which felt like the right fit for me. It wasn’t until I took a position at a public accounting firm that had just launched its Family Office division, that I felt I truly found my passion.
I enjoy my work as a Family Office specialist because I value the close relationships you develop with the clients and their families along the way. I feel that Weiss embraces relationship building, and I think it’s important for the firm and the accountant to share similar values. And this is demonstrated not only through client relations, but our internal relationships as well. The culture here is very collaborative and team-oriented.
Weiss really values its employees, and is cognizant of our needs. I’m at a stage in my career where my needs have changed a bit, and I appreciate that the firm is mindful of that – it’s not something you find with every employer.
