Weiss Announces New Talent Acquisition Manager: Kari Thompson

Weiss and Company LLP is pleased to announce the hiring of a new Talent Acquisition Manager for the firm: Kari Thompson.

Thompson will be responsible for employee recruitment at all levels, including campus recruiting for both internships and full-time positions, and talent acquisition for senior roles. In the short term, Thompson hopes to expand recruiting for the firm’s summer and tax season internship programs, aiming to be one of the top small firms among potential candidates.

She will also guide on-boarding, employee relations, performance management, and talent development. That includes creating a career framework for early-career employees and advancing mentorship and training programs to help all employees reach their potential.

“I’m excited to assume this new role within the Weiss family,” she said of her post, the company’s first-ever executive-level recruiting position. “Weiss is such a welcoming, family community where employees can really have an impact, and this is a great opportunity to be an extra resource for everyone here.”

Thompson has a decade of experience in the field and was most recently involved in talent management for an international Fortune 500 company. It’s a level of expertise a growing firm like Weiss can really use, according to managing partner Dan Fortman.

“As our firm has grown, we knew we needed a dedicated person in this role, and Kari is a great fit,” Fortman said. “We are looking forward to having her on board to continue to attract and retain top talent to the firm.”

Thompson graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in communications and a minor in sociology and human relations. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and three children.
