Weiss Welcomes Three New CPAs to Its Professional Staff

Summer 2020 was certainly a challenge for everyone, but there was a silver lining for Weiss & Company LLP as the firm added three top-notch CPAs to its formidable accounting team.

The trio includes new associates Nick Hamilton, Danusia Lazea, and Ian Livingston.

“We’re always looking to add top talent whenever we have the opportunity to do so,” said Weiss managing partner Dan Fortman. “Finding three CPAs as capable as Nick, Danusia and Ian would be a triumph at any time, let alone in the midst of a pandemic. Their addition certainly bolsters our ability to provide the best service possible to our clients going forward.”

Hamilton, CPA, a staff accountant in the firm’s tax department, joined Weiss from another mid-sized firm. Though he learned about many aspects of accounting in his previous position, “What I enjoy most at Weiss would be the people,” he said. “Everyone here has been so warm and welcoming, even with all the crazy circumstances 2020 has brought us.” At Weiss, he is focused on tax-related services for businesses and individuals. He has a degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing video games, and golfing.

Lazea, CPA, a senior staff accountant in the firm’s accounting services department, previously worked in corporate accounting at both large and small firms. She joined Weiss to steer her career toward accounting and client services within a public accounting firm, and has been happy with the results to date. “I especially like the variety of clients I’m working with,” she said. “I’ve learned a lot of new things in just a few months, and I love that. People here are welcoming, helpful, and very knowledgeable.” She has a degree in accounting and finance from DePaul University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and baking, spending time with family and friends, and hiking.

Livingston, CPA, a staff accountant in the firm’s assurance services department, joined Weiss from a larger firm because “it offered a position with experienced professionals who had a plan in place for every engagement.” He enjoys working with his new nonprofit and manufacturing clients, and he appreciates the opportunity to continue to stay sharp in other areas, such as tax and bookkeeping. He has an MS in accounting from Northern Illinois University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In his free time, he enjoys golf, baseball, rock climbing, and spending time with family and friends.
