Weiss Announces Four New Hires and Five Promotions

Weiss & Company LLP, the Glenview-based accounting firm now in the midst of its 55th season, announced four new hires to the firm and several other internal promotions.

Maximus G. Gomez is a staff accountant in the firm’s tax department. Max is a former Division 1 student athlete and was a part of the Oregon State University wrestling team. He graduated from Oregon State with a Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance and is also fluent in Spanish. He grew up in Chicago and attended Stevenson High School. In his free time, Max enjoys hiking, music, and spending time with family and friends.

Maheen Halari is a staff accountant in the firm’s tax department. She provides primarily tax services to clients. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Illinois, Chicago. In her free time, Maheen looks forward to taking a walk outside every day, traveling, and spending time with family.

Riya Patel is an audit associate in the firm’s audit and assurance department. She graduated from the University of Illinois, Chicago with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance. In her free time, Riya enjoys volunteering, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She is fluent in Hindi and Gujarati, a language spoken predominantly in Western India, although it is the sixth most prevalent language in India spoken by native speakers.

Neli Peeva is a staff accountant in the firm’s tax department. She graduated with a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in accounting from The Ohio State University. Naturally gifted in languages, Neli is fluent in English and Bulgarian and speaks Spanish conversationally. When she is not studying for her CPA exam, Neli enjoys reading science fiction and fantasy novels, listening to any kind of music, and watching movies. She also plays a mean game of badminton.

Promotions
In the firm’s accounting and advisory services department, Julissa Arias has been promoted to Senior and Jordan Laho, CPA, has been promoted to Manager.

In the firm’s tax department, Yesenia Malagon, CPA, has been promoted to Manager and Anna Lomeyko, CPA, has been promoted to Supervisor. Grace Piotrowski, CPA has been promoted to Senior in the firm’s tax services department.
