Weiss Announces Five Staff Promotions

Weiss and Company LLP is pleased to announce that five team members have received promotions.

Valerie Kenis has been promoted to senior accountant in the firm’s assurance services department. Previously a staff accountant, she specializes in audit and review services for closely held businesses and tax-exempt organizations; accounting and QuickBooks consulting; and corporate, partnership, and individual tax services. She has a BS in accounting from Northern Illinois University.

Jordan Petges has been promoted to supervisor in the firm’s accounting and assurance services department. In her prior role as a senior staff accountant, Jordan specialized in audit and review services for closely held businesses; assurance services for employee benefit plans; accounting and QuickBooks consulting; and corporate, partnership, and individual tax services. She has a BBA in accounting and economics from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

Yesenia Malagon has been promoted to supervisor in the firm’s tax department. As one of our senior tax accountants, she built a strong track record in tax and accounting services for both individuals and small to medium business entities in many different industries, most extensively in the areas of corporate, partnership, and individual taxation. She has a BS in accounting from the University of Illinois Chicago.

Ashley Cichlar has been promoted to manager in the firm’s accounting & controllership services department. Previously a supervisor, she specializes in consulting, advisory, and tax services to clients in multiple industries, including entertainment, manufacturing, professional practices, and service companies. She has a BS in accounting from Elmhurst University.

Kristen Janik has been promoted to manager in the firm’s tax department, where she has built an impressive record as a tax supervisor. Kristen specializes in consulting, tax planning, and compliance work to individuals as well as closely held businesses in a variety of industries, including retail, wholesale, healthcare, professional practices, and real estate. She has a BA in accounting from Illinois Wesleyan University.
